Whole House Systems Guide (housesystemsguide.com; texassoftwaterguide.com redirects here) is an independent, faceless guide to practical home systems: water softeners and filtration, HVAC filters, appliances, and related upkeep. We started with Texas hard-water research and still publish those guides; newer pages are nationwide how-tos with curated affiliate picks where they fit.

How we research

Hardness figures come from the water utility's own published reports, cited with the report year.
We separate published facts from rules of thumb, and we label which is which.
We do not invent test results or ratings. When we have not tested a product, we say so.

We are not plumbers, HVAC techs, or water treatment professionals. For installation, hire a licensed pro in your state.
